no bloody PhD for me

Stupid university website with its misleading course information.

Stupid Psych Association with their stringent and dumb requirements for exact PhD topics that have to fit right in with Masters' groups.

Stupid no scholarship for first Masters year.

Stupid everything.

  1. I am so sorry. I know that having a plan for the next couple of years gave you something to feel that you had some control over the outcome.

    HUGS...

  2. Pundie, I'm sorry hon. I am hoping for you that when a door closes, a window opens.

  3. What? Oh no! Does not make sense. Can you re-apply with a different topic? If not right now then maybe mid-year?

Big hugs. And glass of vino.

  4. BUGGER. It's a big emotional commitment just to decide to apply for something like that, so for it to fall through (through no fault of your own) is a real blow. I'm sorry.

PS. The truth about my PhD is I hated it.

  7. Damn it, Pundy:(

There's nothing like the universe opening a window, only to slam it shut:(

What about Andie's suggestion of applying in a slightly different area?

  8. I'm so sorry. To be experiencing setbacks here too must feel utterly rotten, and I wish it had turned out differently this time. A similar thing happened to me, the first time I tried to apply to grad school-- I didn't have my ducks in a row, and I didn't know it until it was too late. Once I found out the proper way to apply and what I needed to do to jump over those stupid, minor, thoroughly defeating, bureaucratic roadblocks, I reapplied the next year and everything worked out smoothly. I know the same will be true for you, so don't give up, but in the meantime it just feels awful.

  9. They SUCK! After all your effort in making decisions and composing your application, is it too much to ask for clear, readable guidelines?

There's definitely an intellectual home for you. I hope you find it soon.
